Beach Profiles - Rockaway
littoral cell
The Rockaway littoral cell extends from Cape
Meares in the south to Neahkahnie Mt. in the north. The entire
shore may be further subdivided into three subcells known as BayOcean
Spit, Rockaway, and Nehalem Spit. Within this cell,
the most concentrated area of coastal development occurs along the
Rockaway sub-cell (i.e. includes the towns of Twin Rocks, Rockaway, and
Nedonna Beach). Intense development is also occurring in the north
at Manzanitta.
